    Accessibility Consulting

We offer tailored accessibility assessments and strategic planning to help theatres and arts institutions identify barriers — physical, cultural, and procedural — and chart clear, achievable pathways forward.

Through virtual or in-person consultations, we listen deeply, assess your spaces and systems, and provide practical recommendations designed specifically for your team. Our goal is to help partners move beyond compliance checklists and embrace accessibility as a core value of their organization.

    Consulting work includes:

    - Virtual and in-person accessibility assessments

    - Space and audience service audits

    - Findings reports and prioritized action plans

    - Strategic recommendations for both short-term and long-term improvement

What it looks like in action

Training and Workshops:

Inclusion can be taught. We will work with your team to address internalized, systemic ableism and how it affects disabled theatre practitioners today. Often times accessibility is a mindset, we hope to teach your team why accessibility is a necessity that benefits everyone, not just another checkmark for code requirements.

A thorough assessment of theater spaces

We will come to your theatre and address where physical access is a barrier to inclusive practices in all of your theatre spaces, including where performers, designers, technicians, staff, and patrons may be present. We will then give you a plan on how you can make your space accessible in the short term with small adjustments, and long term through full renovations.

A full breakdown of audience services

Ensuring that patrons have a fully accessible theater experience is important. We will give you a full accommodation guide and train you on best practices for front of house accessibility.

ConsultAbility’s programs are designed to help arts organizations see, plan, act, and connect for access and inclusion.

By blending professional expertise with lived experience, we guide the arts community toward a future where accessibility isn’t an afterthought — it’s an instinct. Together, we’re shaping a cultural landscape where barriers are removed before they’re named, and inclusion becomes the standard for how the arts are created, shared, and experienced.

All plans will be developed specifically for each individual company and its needs.
